Are you ready to bring the whimsy to Christmas? Or do you think Christmas is whimsical because it’s a magical time of year? Either way, shall we talk about decorating? Last year, we started putting out our decorations in early November. It gives us more time to enjoy the hard work. Recently, I attended the Christmas Press Show and saw beautiful wreaths, baubles, cushions, and amazing gifting ideas. Now that the Christmas goodies are slowly hitting the shop floor, it’s time to talk Christmas décor. Some of you may think it’s soon, but this is the time for early birds and bargain hunters to thrive. If you want to switch up your Christmas décor, start looking early, especially if you want to buy from a variety of stores to create your bespoke look. Let’s look at some 2026 whimsical Christmas decorating trends and bring warmth and cheer to your home.

Cosy Cappuccino
Now, let’s swing by the garden centres. Diamond Garden Centre has five themes for 2026 Christmas décor. The themes are: Regal Charm, Frosted Pines, Cosy Cappuccino, Royal Opera and Wild Berry Woodland. I’m telling you, Cosy Cappuccino is the one for you this Christmas. Think Mocha Mousse, Pantone 2025,with cream on top.
Cosy Cappuccino is inspired by frothy cappuccino; think blankets and candlelit winter mornings. The colour scheme is a blend of coffee creams, warm taupe, caramel oat and mocha tones, which create a calm and elegant Christmas room. Special mention to their stunning Wild Berry Woodland. It brings the whimsical outdoors in. The collection comprises berry reds, forest greens, weathered bark and woodland florals. For example, Red Berry Mistletoe Leaf £4.99, Red Door With Wreath Hanging Decoration £1.99, Orange Butterfly Clip £3.99 and Cluster of Hanging Acorns £2.99.
A Country Christmas
Is there anything more exciting than Christmas in the countryside? When our children were little, we’d book an Airbnb in the country. Less preparing for me and more fun for all of us, especially if it snowed! If you are not in the countryside but like that aesthetic, Christmas is a good time to play with it. This Christmas, Dobbies Garden Centre have created five festive worlds. Christmas worlds are: ‘North Pole Shop’, ‘Classic Noel’, ‘A Country Christmas’, Winter Wonderland’, ‘Christmas Carnival’. My favourite is of course ‘A Country Christmas’!
‘A Country Christmas’ is inspired by rural landscapes and winter walks. Wherever you are based, bringing the country cheer makes Christmas full of wonder. All in the family will love it. The palette is deep greens, warm reds and natural tones. References to country living run throughout the collection, from Wellington boots and tractors to woodland creatures, felt decorations and rustic textures and more.
Diverse and Whimsical Christmas Decorations
Special mention for diverse and whimsical Christmas decorations: Black-owned inclusive Christmas decorations brand March Muses has a variety of decorations that would fit nicely into many of the above-mentioned themes. They have black santas, black angels and elves, as well as dominoes and dutchy pots, if you know you know.
