Summer braidout hairstyles are super easy! And! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’ve got hair to braid!! Last year at this time, I had hair that could be just about twisted at the front. The sides were still quite short. My hair growth journey officially began in early autumn. Then, by January, I tweaked my supplement intake by including collagen and gradually introduced Pumpkin Seed Oil. Hairwash days are still once per week, unless I’ve been to the aqua aerobics class. Now, with more hair in a heatwave, I’ve been styling my hair in simple cornrows, which I wear at home. They can easily be covered with a baseball cap for shopping trips. When I’m ready, the cornrows can be easily taken down and styled into a braidout for a different look. I use Tootilab’s styling bundle hair products for my summer braidout styles.

My only hair concern is volume. When I cut my hair three years ago, I thought the big chop would reduce unnecessary hair manipulation and that my hair would thicken at the crown again. Twistout and braids work best for me.

Summer Braidout Process
Moisture and water are my friend when styling my hair. I usually braid my hair on day 2 after hair washday. Section by section, I spritz my hair with water, I apply Soft Leave In Cream, then cornrow. The cornrows stay in for roughly 2-4 days.
When it’s time to take down my cornrows, I unplait section by section. Then follow with water spritz and All Weather Styling Gel, where necessary, to calm frizz and define.
USER TIP: If you have fine hair like mine, use the gel sparingly. When the cast is set, hair may look finer.

My hair is just about to touch my shoulders at some points. A length check is overdue, but I’m waiting until early autumn, when it would be one year since my last haircut.
