You might think a luxury makeup and skincare brand from Japan cannot cater to black skin; you’d be wrong. SUQQU has 23 shades in The Liquid Foundation and 24 in The Foundation. The skincare is luxurious, from packaging to products that deliver on their promises. Starting with the skin and structure of the face, the Gankin massage  creates a lovely canvas. The eyeshadows are alluring. Each makeup collection hones in on an element of nature and is translated into palettes with elegant shades. The formulas are exquisite and shades enhance the wearer’s natural beauty. They always excite me. When I say their makeup makes my heart sing, I mean it. Gifting someone with SUQQU is to give a touch of luxury. I’ve been playing around with products from the winter and holiday collections. They are fabulous. The SUQQU’s winter makeup for 2024 is another triumph.

Winter’s Snow Flurry

London doesn’t have snow, so I’m fascinated by SUQQU’s concept of winter. The Winter 2024 collection’s theme is “SNOW FLURRY”  which they describe as when a ‘sudden snow flurry descends, instantly cloaking the city in silence. The air grows still, and from the gray sky with a faint glow, soft, cold light falls as snowflakes flutter gently to the ground. This fleeting spectacle vanishes as quickly as it appears.’

From SUQQU’s Winter collection, I received SIGNATURE COLOR EYES 143 NIWAKAYUKI [Ltd Ed]. It is a Steel Blue × Jade Green with sparkle from silver pearls to capture the cold, transient nature of snowfall. I was also sent 102 TOKIFUKE (Ltd Ed.) blush, crafted with an ‘Oil-less’ formula. The blush has an extremely smooth gradation and an elegant sheen in a smoky pink soft radiance.

Winter Makeup Daytime

SUQQU was the brand that made me feel confident about rocking green and blue makeup looks. My undertone is yellow, so not all blues work for me. Their SIGNATURE COLOR EYES 143 NIWAKAYUKI was the palette I never knew I needed. The powdery grey-blue didn’t do much for me on its own but when combined with the other three shades the look was stunning.

On SUQUU’s Instagram, the shades show up more grey-blue, on paler complexions. However, on me, NIWAKAYUKI looks more teal-jade which I adore! It complements the colours I tend to wear. Best of all, it makes the yellow in my skin tone glow. Grey British weather can make the skin look ashy, so makeup that gives a healthy glow is a plus.

After my first trial, I opted to jump in with the middy shade, then use the darkest shade for my crease up to my brow bone. Then, I applied the palest blue for the corners of my eyes. This was the best way to make my hooded eyes pop more.

Winter Makeup Evening

I turned up my winter makeup look for afternoon to evening by pairing SIGNATURE COLOR EYES 143 NIWAKAYUKI with 105 AKANEZOME  blush from the holiday collection.

SUQQU’s 2024 Holiday Collection  theme is “COZY WINTER” drawing inspiration from ‘A peaceful moment in midwinter to relax and unwind in the warmth.’

I then applied BLURRING COLOR BLUSH 102, TOKIFUKE. On a paler complexion, TOKIFUKE would create a pretty flushed pink cheek akin to the look of being out in a winter chill. The gradient pink pearl gives a delicate glow that elevates the overall look. On me, the payout is less pink and more glow which is perfect for a daytime look.

The blush, AKANEZOME, is ‘A combination of madder red with a fine depth and calming pink with sweetness. The finish looks as if it has been flushed red in the cold.’ On me the blush more ‘golden goddess’ vibes. The look was a winner when completed with the MOISTURE RICH LIPSTICK in the shade 07 IROKASASHI. IROKASAHI is a muted red with a balance of red and yellow tints. It is the perfect companion for the blush for a sophisticated winter makeup look.

Winter Makeup Gifting Recommendations

Any of SUQQU’s products would make a special gift. You could pair SIGNATURE COLOR EYES 143 NIWAKAYUKI with 105 AKANEZOME blush. Alternatively, NIWAKAYUKI with the Lip & Cheek Cream Touch Blush and Lip in the shade Ichigoame for fair to mid-tones and Kuwanomi for deeper skin tones.

SUQQU’s Holiday EYE & FACE COMPACT is quite pretty. It comes in two looks: EYE & FACE COMPACT 102 HARUAKARI Ltd Ed. (Warm tone) and EYE & FACE COMPACT 101 TOUKYOU Ltd Ed. (Smoky tone).

Finally, there are Holiday Starter Kits. Choose from one of the three Holiday starter kits.
