It’s the colour no one saw coming as the Pantone 2025; Mocha Mousse. Many of us were expecting a green due to the success of the movie Wicked even though 2024 social media was full of coffee content. Pinterest Predicted the cafecore trend! I enjoyed making iced coffee on sweltering days over the summer although matcha latte is my vibe. Adobe says ‘If you’re going for an organic, wholesome feel, brown is an excellent colour to include in your palette.’ Now that is a bit of me. So, brown is an option for our master bedroom’s feature wall. I want a cosy snug vibe and nature makes me feel inspired and soothed. Let us explore how Mocha Mousse, Pantone 2025, can be used in a bedroom.
Mocha Mousse
Pantone has chosen PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse as the colour for 2025. They are the global colour authority and provide professional colour language standards and digital solutions for the design community. Mocha Mousse is ‘… evocative soft brown that transports our senses into the pleasure and deliciousness … nurtures with its suggestion of the delectable quality of cacao, chocolate, and coffee, appealing to our desire for comfort. … a level of thoughtful indulgence” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director Pantone Color Institute. “Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic…’
2024’s Peach Fuzz didn’t seem to be a hit. I didn’t see much of it in interiors or fashion. While many were underwhelmed when Mocha Mousse was revealed I believe there is scope to see it translated into stunning pieces in fashion, food, and interiors this year.
Touches and Accents
Brown is a neutral colour and can be paired with a variety of colours. Look at your colour wheel and choose colours that are in the same or complementary spectrum or look to nature for inspiration. I like to see browns with teal-ish and aquamarine blues, pale pinks with brown even greens with browns.
Thinking of Mocha Mousse, Pantone says ‘evokes a feeling of the comfort of home whether appearing on the flooring or a painted wall, within home décor, or in more natural materials including wood and stone, rattan and wicker, leather and linen.
Another option is animal prints, as seen on the left. Rockett St George’s Wild Leopard Love Wallpaper (RRP £125 per roll).
Founder and CEO of Studio Dean, Cathy Dean says:
“A brown interior colour scheme is surprisingly versatile and not at all as dramatic as it sounds, as there are so many tones that you can ease into. Opting for a neutral brown base allows versatility in your home as you can easily bring in other colours and trends. Add in a green for an earthy, nature-inspired feeling, opt for pink for a soft feminine space, or a navy if you want something a little more bold. These tiny switch-outs alongside a base in a solid neutral mean you are not getting tired of your room and deciding to redecorate far more often than you need to!”
Mocha Mousse With A Seaside Twist
Although we are nowhere near the sea, I do like a seaside vibe in the bedroom. I find it a soothing aesthetic. If I’m not by the seaside, I’m in the woods. Perhaps this is the reason I didn’t commit updating our master bedroom with Peach Fuzz tones. In fact, since moving into our forver home, the only thing we have done to our bedroom was change the carpet. After seeing Studio Dean’s Sophisticated Seaside theme ( it’s this blog’s feature image) I have an idea how we can combine blues and browns to create the master bedroom of my dreams.
If you will also be updating colours in your home for 2025 and done’t want to paint, Studio Dean has a serene collection of brown undertoned wallpaper. The collection is named EVOLVED. Their Kairi Wallpaper Roll (RRP £120.00 per roll) looks modern but warm. While Rockett St George offers bolder prints, like Poodle & Blonde 1970 Caffe Wallpaper (RRP £160 per roll) It reminds me of marbled paper in old bound library boxes, sophisticated and timeless.
Moving away from the looks and exploring bedding, neutral or blue works well for this coastal theme. Options like Neutral Check Bedding Habitat Set , Habitat Cotton Linen Look Plain Navy Bedding Set with stylish lighting fixtures like IKEA’s Light Fixtures Bamboo and Grinsbol Mirror help to make the room look cohesive.
Althernatively, above is a Studio Dean bedroom that demonatrates the use of browns with raffia fittings. This look can be tweaked for a earthy boohoo or breezy costal asethetic.
