The brand Palmer’s has been a part of my life since I was knee high. It began with skincare products, then, grew to include haircare. During the 5th year of my natural hair journey, I began trialling and using Palmer’s haircare. Sometimes they were sent as PR samples. Occasionally, I bought the ones best suited my hair need at that point in time. Palmer’s is always changing and on trend with their collections. They are on point with what consumers are seeking. My latest hair need is protection and curl perfection from products that don’t weigh down my tresses. Enter Palmer’s Amino Bonding Complex Collection. I’m awful at caring for my hair when I’m on a beach holiday. I can’t get enough of the salty waves. This summer, Palmer’s Amino Bonding Complex protected and kept my hair hydrated during hols.

Palmer’s Amino Bonding Complex Collection

New to the Palmer’s family is the Amino Bonding Complex Collection. The collection came out early summer. Unlike their other collections, this range doesn’t have a shampoo and that surprised me at first. However, they have quite a few from their other collections that would work well with the Amino Bonding Complex. My favourite shampoo was from their Natural Infusions range which I don’t see anymore, so I used another I already had. The collection comprises of four products:

  • Amino Bonding Complex Bonding Conditioning Masque
  • Amino Bonding Complex Bonding Leave-In Treatment
  • Amino Bonding Complex Bonding Hair Gloss
  • Amino Bonding Complex Bonding Healing Oil

The collection was created to ‘Transform severely damaged hair bonds from the inside out with natural multi-action hair bonding technology. With each use, repairs severe damage, hydrates and strengthens and protects.

How I Used Palmer’s Amino Bonding Complex Collection

Palmer’s PR sent me the entire collection to try. I took it with me on holiday. As I mentioned earlier, I’m not good at caring for my hair when I’m on a beach holiday. Being in the water is all I care about but now that I’m rocking my TWA for a second year every strand is important. My curls are fine and around the crown is the curl is looser AND fine which is why I need effective but light products.

Over my two-week getaway I used the Amino Bonding Complex Bonding Leave-In Treatment daily before and after the beach. On weekends, I washed my hair with my usual shampoo followed by the Amino Bonding Complex Bonding Leave-In Treatment, Amino Bonding Complex Hair Gloss, curl cream from another brand and finish off with the Amino Bonding Complex Bonding Healing Oil.

One time I experimented with a temporary curl colour during my getway. I wanted blue mermaid hair. Why not? since I was enjoy the coastal life of Isle of Wight. Blue hair colour can make your hair look a bit dull. I opted to use Palmer’s Amino Bonding Complex products to make my blue tresses glossy.

When I returned home, I gave my hair in-depth TLC with the full Amino Bonding Complex Collection. I washed my hair my usual shampoo, rinsed then applied the conditioning masque and left it in for 10 minutes. After the masques was washed out, I followed with the Amino Bonding Complex Leave-in-Treatment, followed by Bonding Hair Gloss. Finally, to complete the regime I applied curl cream from my usual brand and the Amino Bonding Complex Healing Oil. I allowed my hair to air dry for best results.

FYI; the brand suggestions that the healing oil can be used as a pre-poo (pre-shampoo) treatment. It contains; coconut oil, arginine (Amino Acid), biotin and collagen. The healing oil will help to manage frizz.

My Thoughts: I was very happy with how my hair looked and felt after using Palmer’s Amino Complex Collection. My curls felt silky smooth and hydrated. Each strand was shiny and all together my TWA was bouncy and smelt like a coconut treat. I couldn’t keep my hand away from the gratifying bounciness of my teeny weeny afro (TWA)

Curlfriend TIPS: For tighter curl patters, you could probably use the Hair Food Formula for braid styles. Alternatively for wash-n-goes, try using your trusted curl cream or custard after the Amino Complex Hair Gloss, if your go to pairs with other brands.

Now I’m back to my usual schedule, Aqua Aerobics is part of my week. I’ve continued to use the Amino Bonding Complex Leave-in-Conditioner after my time in the pool, as well as to refresh my curls in the morning before heading off for the day. I would say it’s my favourite product from the range, simply because I use it the most and I luv the results.
