Spring is in the air and Mother’s day is next week. I look forward to it, so I can do nothing. I’m not bothered about being pampered, as long as, my chores are completed by someone else. My love language is acts of service BUT if gifts are involved, tea, matcha or skincare never gets old. Seriously, can you ever have enough. Some women may be a miffed by skincare gifts for fear it implies they look tired. If doubt, it’s ALWAYS good skincare for me. I see it as an investment in my continued look of freshness. I have sensitive skin so I’m careful what products and ingredients I apply to my skin. If your mum has a serious skin concern seek professional advice. For those of you confident in shopping for your mum, well, I’ve done some of the work for you. These are my top 6 tried and tested brands for Mother’s Day gifting.

Jurlique

Jurlique was established 35 years ago. The brand was founded by Ulrike and Jurgen Klein, who source ingredients from their biodynamic farm, in Adelaide Hills, Australia. Last year I attended the launch of their Aloe Vera range, in London. Most island girls know the benefits of aloe. We use for on our skin and hair; we even drink it as a cleanser. I’ve even got a plant. No surprise then that I would love the range. My favourite product from the range was the face mist. It’s ideal when I get hot in the face with flush. Sometimes I use it as a pick me up, instant face hydration, mindful moment AND makeup set.

Jurlique Mother's Day Rose Glow Gift Set

This Mother’s Day, you don’t have to create a ritual for your mum. Jurlique has done the hard work for you. In time for her special day, Jurlique have put together a variety of gift sets featuring their popular rose products. I think The Rare Rose Glow Ritual RRP£55 is a good one. It and contains 20ml Activating Water Essence+, 50ml Rare Rose Face Oil, and 10ml Rare Rose Cream. You can’t go far wrong with rose, especially for mature skin. It’s quite soothing and uplifting for the senses.

Liz Earle

I ‘discovered’ Liz Earle when I was pregnant with my son years ago. A friend lent me one of her books on natural skin care. Some years later I actually tried the Hot Cloth Cleanser. My skin loved it. As I grew older my skin needs changed. So, while on staycation on the Isle of Wight, I popped into the flagship store in Ryde and bought the SuperSkinTM eye cream. It worked wonders.

Now, cleansing balms are having a moment, so, for Mother’s Day gifting why not gift mum the SuperSkinTM Cleansing Balm RRP£39. Having a good skin cleansing regime prepares the skin for the products to follow and enhances their effectiveness. The balm is plant based and uses ‘luxurious formula is powered by acacia tree extract, the plant-based alternative to collagen, that helps to improve the look and feel of skin that’s experienced collagen loss.’ Mature skin would benefit from those lush ingredients.

Suqqu

Early Spring 2023, I visited the SUQQU counter in Selfridges London for a Gankin Massage experience on behalf of brownbeautytalk. I have used a variety of their products since then. Now, SUQQU is one of my firm favourites. It’s the first brand that made me feel like me, with makeup on. The way their products glide onto the skin, hydrates it and enhances natural features is second to known. Even better, is their skin care.

The VIALUME THE SMOOTHING CREAM is a miracle worker. I have sensitive skin prone to eczema and with age it tends to be dry. Whenever, I have a dry itchy flare up, VIALUME Cream is my go to. The cream is rich but not sticky. It absorbs easily into the skin and leaves it looking dewy. The scent is floral and luxurious. On milder flare-ups, I’ve seen my skin improve overnight! The VIALUME cream is a higher price point at £220 but in my experience it delivers on its promises. It hydrates and smoothens my skin.

Alternatively, SUQQU’S RINSEIKOU Designing Massage Cream Kit RRP £72 is a decadent DIY pamper experience in a box. You can practice the Gankin Massage steps online to massage mum, like a pro. Another option for Mother’s Day gifting would be to put together your own gift kit by pairing their Day Protecting Cream £65 (SPF 50 and brown beauty friendly, leaves not white caste) and a luscious Treatment Wrapping lip gloss £28 to suit mum’s complexion. The Treatment Wrapping Lip comes in 6 shades.

skinSense

skinSense is brainchild of Abi Cleeves. She worked on the latest technological advancement in skin care at Ultrasun. Drawing upon the same ground breaking lamellar technology used by the brand the idea for skinSense  was born. It locks in hydration using targeted skin strengheners and highly active ingredients to care for skin and give skin confidence. The first range I tried was the Signature collection which I received in a goodie bag some years ago. After using the Leave On Mask, I would wake up look refreshed with hydrated supple looking skin.

Later on I was introduced to the Hydranet and Ceramide24 ranges. I took the Ceramide 24 with me on holiday to Trinidad. It’s stellar! Kept my skin good nick. The Hydranet Hydrating Collagen Gel I tend to use over the winter months. So, thinking about your mum, there are so many choices. The best bet would be to go for treats mum she might not grab her herself.

skinSense Hydranet BodyCfeam , Ceramide 24 Treatment Mask, Anti-Aging Leave On Mask and Advanced Conditioning Lip Oil

For Mother’s Day gifting I suggest the following:  Hydranet Moisturising Body Cream 400ml RRP£28 OR the Ceramide24 AHA Treatment Mask 100ml RRP£42 which comes with a good quality application brush. Alternatively, there’s the Overnight Leave on Mask from the Signature range which can be paired with an Advanced Conditioning Lip Oil RRP £32.

Soap & Glory

You can consider of Mother’s Day gifting options without thinking of Soap & Glory? This is a high street favourite always comes out the gorgeous scents and luscious products. They packaging instantly makes you feel girlish and playful. Usually, it’s a Christmas treat for me. However, new in for Spring and in time for mother’s day gifting is their Limited Edition Fresh as Fig Range. The fragrance has notes of plump fig and sparkling lemon blossom, prices start at £4.49 for the body wash. This is an affordable purchase that little ones can treat mum to with their hard earned pocket money for their Mother’s Day gifting. Make a hamper of it to ramp up the indulgences by teaming the body wash, scrub and body butter!

Weleda

I’ve had the opportunity to visit Weleda’s HQ in Derby, twice. During their site tours I learnt, about their ethos, sustainable practices and the science behind their well-loved Skin Food. Skin Food to this day is a staple product of mine. It’s something I always have at home. Due to the success of this much loved product, Weleda has extended the Skin Food range. In fact their overall product portfolio is extensive. However, I may be biased but I would gift mum Skin Food.

The Skin Food range now includes body butters and face care. The Skin Food Ultra-Light Dry Oil  £15.95 can be gifted on its own or paired up with another product from range.

I hope you my suggestions have been helpful and you find the prefect present for your Mother’s Day gifting. The list above can be also be used for birthdays and just because days. Don’t’ forget: if mum has any allergies, serious skin concerns OR on medication seek professional advice before selecting skin care for her.
