As February draws to a close, daylight hours begin to lengthen again. Out of the dull grey days, we are getting ready for spring showers and signs of regeneration in nature. We switch up our wardrobe and skincare. Then, we turn our eyes to our home interiors. We spring clean and refresh rooms. My dining room is the brightest room on the ground floor. It gets light from the galley kitchen windows and its windows. This is usually the room I tend to update quickly by swapping decorations and displaying seasonal flowers and pretty season-scented candles. Thinking of longer days this is the time we are likely to resume hosting since Christmas. Build from the aesthetic, when you update your living room in spring. Colour plays an important role in eating spaces. Since the dopamine trend is still with us, I thought let’s explore dopamine dining room inspo.
How Colours Affect Diners
We can adopt the restauranteur’s colour theory when selecting colours for our dining room because they influence diners feelings. Colours that don’t work for a restaurant can work in the home. Choose colours that foster a feeling of comfort and an invitation to linger. For example, ivory, beige, white, pale yellow, and light grey; light colours evoke a leisurely and relaxing atmosphere.
Keeping to the lights, there are also pastels. Pastels such as Sky blue, pink, light yellow, lavender, and pale green are soft and can be used to create a calm, sophisticated aesthetic. Contrast pastels with neutral shades such as white and light grey or wood tones for a cheerful dining room.
NOTE: Thinking of the primary colours; red makes people feel hungry and encourages quick eating. Blue reduces appetite but fosters thirst. Yellow exudes excitement.
Dining Room Walls
Now that we have the colours covered in the colour theory, let’s look at how they can be incorporated. You could paint a feature wall or go for colour drench. Consider the size, location, and natural light in your dining room.
Another option is using wallpaper as the focus to build your aesthetic around your dining room. Using a striking dining room wallpaper adds interest and personality, and sets the tone for the space. When you choose your wallpaper print, accentuate it by picking out colours from the pattern for inspiration, when selecting accessories and wares for a cohesive look.
Dopamine Styling Tips From Bobbi Beck
As seen from the wallpaper styling images on this post, Bobbi Beck’s team don’t play it safe. Their wallpaper designs are pieces of art in their own right. James Mellan-Matulewicz, Creative Director of Bobbi Beck, explains:
“Adding Dopamine Decor to your home creates a space that feels bright, energising, and uniquely personal. By incorporating vivid colours with textures and decorative furnishings, this trend helps make your home an inspiring mood-boosting place to be…. “
“Mix and match bold patterned wallpaper or murals to add character, try a bold checkerboard & stripe pattern or an abstract print to bring a fun focal point to your room. “Add statement furniture, whether it be a brightly-painted sideboard or a sofa in an unexpected colour. Try smaller objects like vases and dried coloured flowers.”

Dopamine Dining Room Accents
If I’m not at the charity shop thrifting bits and pieces I’ll probably be in one of my favourite budget-friendly shops. I like budget-friendly pieces that will last for years whatever the new craze. In spring 2025 all three brands have themes that fit into the dopamine aesthetic.
Starting with George Home, they have brought the Lucky Charm theme to life. The colour palette colours include: bubblegum pink, ruby red, and sunny yellow, with quirky motifs like a wild west cowboy, checks, and dizzy florals. Their looks make spring celebratory .
Then, there’s Dunelm, the home of home. As we shake off the winter’s gloom, they urge us to bring spring colour or texture to our favourite spot. Dunelm is serving up pops of mood-boosting colour that give joy. Patterns include stripes, florals, and shapes like scallops and fluid curvy forms. Their looks are built around “You’re the one I want” (a well-known song from the hit 70’s movie Grease) which infers we’re choosing what brings us joy.
Lastly, who doesn’t love a trip to Primark? From bargain hunters to big spenders alike enjoy a cheeky Primark. The brand is always at the forefront of fun trends. Spring 2025 at Primark is all about bringing the theatrics to the dining room with ceramic embossed cookware and serving dishes.
Pastel napkins and pinch pots for condiments make the perfect finishing touch. Embossed glasses, fruit-shaped plates and jugs, ombre mugs and scalloped bowls, and trays galore.
