Autumn is autumning! Thanks to the hot summer we had in the UK, the autumn colours are popping and Insta-fabulous. Still, we can feel the icy chill of winter creeping up. The pumpkins have been packed away until next year. Enter festive vibes. If Covid and rising cost of living have taught us anything, it’s to make our homes our castle (kumbla) In a recent post, I shared ways to incorporate the Pantone mocha mousse into your living room décor for Christmas. Now, let’s dive deeper into the cosiness of it all; cosy-maxxing. James Mellan-Matulewicz, Creative Director at Bobbi Beck, says: Cosy-maxxing delivers exactly that: a comfort-first interior style centred on warmth, tactility, and softness, creating a setting that encourages slowing down and sinking in. How can we achieve cosy-maxxing this winter, you ask? Look no further, here’s how you can go all out cosy-maxxing this winter for the festive season.
Tips to Cosy-Maxxing
Instead of painting, opt for wallpaperJames says that “Wallpaper in gentle, organic patterns or earthy tones creates a cocooning feel that instantly softens a room and sets the tone for the rest of your décor.”
Once the tone is established, the easiest way to enhance a room like the living room is by adding texture. Include velvety cushions, wool throws, and linen curtains to give depth and warmth. Tactile materials transform a room into a place where everyone wants to linger.
TIP: Create Breakout spaces/ zones where people can gather, relax, and connect. For example, A nook with an armchair and throw or a grouping of chairs designed to encourage conversation.
Cosy-Maxxing Bedroom
If you can’t get cosy in the bedroom, then where can you? Similar to the living room, introduce indulgent textures that make you want to fall into bed. Whether it’s to sleep or relax for a while, way from the busyness of Christmas, curate a space that’s soothing to your senses. Avoid fussiness and … unless that’s your thing, in which case, this aesthetic may not be your vibe.
Some pieces from Next and Habitat and John Lewis caught my eyes like the Natural Gingerbread Christmas Fleece Duvet Cover and Pillowcase Set and a Natural Christmas Wishes Faux Fur Cushion from Next. Give the room a glow with White Battery LED Christmas Star String Lights from Habitat.
Cutesy finishing touches of ornaments like the Ceramic Moon LED Decoration and the Fur Owl and Baby Figure from John Lewis.
What do you think? Would you it try this decor for Christmas?
Conclusion
Cosy-maxxing is ultimately about indulgence and there’s no better time than the festive season to embrace it. Focus on warmth, texture, and gentle lighting. Create a space where you and your guests can feel nurtured and at ease.
