Melaninated skin is prone to hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation occurs for various reasons. In my experience, it happened because of acne scarring and sometimes as a reaction to harsh skincare. I am not a fan of bleaching products, so I allow the marks to fade naturally. Now, in my 50s, I’ve a few specks on my face, which I’ve learned is a result of sun damage. Enter skinSense with their (AP) Anti-Pigmentation Perfecting collection. I am accustomed to skinSense products and have always had good results. It was created as the name indicates, to target pigmentation issues. I was sent the AP Perfecting Anti-Pigmentation Eye Cream and the AP Perfecting Anti-Pigmentation Day Cream to trial. I used the products for over a month, and I had an unexpected result. This is my review of the products I tested from the skinSense AP Perfecting range.

That Summer Ready Glowy Skin
The AP Perfecting Anti-Pigmentation Eye Cream can be used day and night. I used it mostly as part of my day skin care regimen. The eye cream targets discolouration and dark under-eye shadows. It contains caffeine, which helps reduce puffiness and stimulate blood flow to the skin. Other ingredients include hazel nut oil said to boost collagen and capuacu butter, known for its hydrating and nourishing traits.
Firstly, puffy under eyes is my bugbear, especially during hay fever season in spring. When applied, the cream felt lightweight and absorbed easily into the skin under my eyes. The area looked and felt moisturised, and the puffiness was reduced. Secondly, I hate having milia. Now, I’m not sure if it’s a direct result, but I noticed while using the eye cream, my milia (also know as milk spots) under the eyes reduced. Perhaps the N-Acetyl Glucosamine (NAG), which is a skin-compatible amino acid that gently exfoliates the skin, helped to treat the condition.
I followed the eye cream with the AP Perfecting Anti-Pigmentation Day Cream. A little goes a long way. When I first started using it I was aware it was on. I didn’t have an irritation, just an awareness (like a mild sensitivity), so I reduced the amount I used. Then I followed up with sun protection.

My skin looked and felt hydrated. Best of all, my face had an even tone and brightness I didn’t realise it needed, in time for summer!
I’m very pleased with my youthful glow.
