If you are a parent of tweens and teens, chances are they are talking your ear off about eateries they have seen on TikTok. My son has been trying to get us to take him and his sister to Jollibee for ages. We finally took them during the February half-term. Hubby planned a day of exploring a few London eateries. What’s not to like about snacking around London on a sunny spring day? Jollibee was our first stop. Looking around, I could see I was not the only parent whose child wanted to try the TikTok-popular eatery. The setup is similar to most fast-food chicken restaurants, but the menu is a true crowd-pleaser. I’m still thinking about it! This is from a woman whose hubby drove her to Lille, France, for a good KFC. I found my Chickenjoy at Jollibee, Leicester Square, London.
About Jollibee
Jollibee was founded in 1978 by Tony Tan Caktiong in the Philippines. The company began as an ice cream store, then expanded to hot food. By 1998, it was a globally successful business. Today, Jollibee Group owns the brand. There are over 1,400 locations across Asia, Europe, the USA, and the UK.
Their menu is quite diverse and includes Chicken Sandwich, hotdogs, fries, desserts, and soft drinks like pineapple juice. Chickenjoy is their signature dish based on the family’s special recipe. The chicken is hand-breaded in-store.
Another favourite is Jolly Spaghetti, made with a Filipino-inspired sweet-style sauce, loaded with layers of cheese and hot dog slices. Their unique dishes have earned the brand a cult following around the globe, from Hong Kong to New York and now here in the UK.
Parent company, Jollibee Group, now has over 5,800 stores globally and operates in 33 countries. In the U.S., Jollibee Group owns the major food brands Smashburger and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. The company also owns the Filipino franchise for Burger King.
To this day, Jollibee still outperforms both McDonald’s and KFC in the Philippines.
What We Ate
Hubby and I shared a spicy combo, and it was perfect! The Chickenjoy (spicy) & Loaded Fries Combo with a Peach Mango Pie comes up to 1720kcal and costs £13.99. One child had Chickenjoy & Loaded Fries (regular) and the other had a Spicy Chicken Fillet Meal.
Service was good, the restaurant was clean, and the food was so good. The chicken was super crispy AND moist, which is a feat that I appreciate. I was delighted to have an alternative to the usual orange juice. I chose pineapple juice.
The Peach Mango Pie that was part of my meal was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I could taste the mango inside! It was a fantastic combo to give me a taste of Jollibee’s.
My one regret was not trying their spaghetti AND trending Ube ice cream, but I need to leave space in my tummy. Our next stop was Camden Market
My Takeaway
If you are a friend chicken lover, you have got to try Jollibee! You will be spoilt for choice. Seriously, what other ‘chicken shop’ can you get plain rice as a side or spaghetti as part of the meal? Our closest branch is Leicester Square.
