In fact, for our two weeks staycay on Isle of Wight I had a bag of products. I took my tried-and-true products and along with a few newbies from trusted brands. About Boucleme Haircare
Boucleme was founded by Michele Scott-Lynch in 2014. Her mission was to create the products she couldn’t find for her own natural curls. Equally as important she wanted curlies to love the hair they have. This was four years into the global shift where people with curly, coily and kinky hair began to embrace their natural hair textures. We were slowly waking up to the dangers of chemically relaxed hair and how some cleansers stripped our hair.

Boucleme Curl Defence Spray
Now here’s a product I didn’t know needed in my life! I’m very low maintenance. The thing I love about wearing my hair natural is that I don’t have to be too precious about it. I can swim when I want to swim. It’s ok to get drizzled on. The humidity makes my curls ping! When I am on holiday, I’m guilty of doing the bare minimum for my hair. Since we mainly do beach breaks, my hair always goes a bit bleached red. This year! For the first time ever, my hair stayed its normal colour thanks to Boucleme’s Defence Spray.
Curl Defence (RRP £22) was created to protect hair against heat, UV, and pollution. It can be applied before or after stylers and best suited for waves, curls and coils. 99% plant powered, Curl Defence contains organic aloe vera, sodium hyaluronate and natural betaine sugar.
How I use it: Because my hair is quite short, I predominantly allow it to air dry. However, I used Curl Defence to protect my hair from direct midday summer sun. It was the last product I applied to a hair before going the door.
Now as the days a getting colder, I will use it before I diffuse.
Boucleme Flexible Hold Hair Spray
When I saw a new product was hitting the shelves by Boucleme, I correctly guessed it would be a spray gel. Talk about wishes being answered. February 2024 marked my 14th year natural and this is a product I’ve been waiting for! Now that my hair is in a short-tapered cut, volume is more important. Gunky thick products only weigh down my tiny curls. The benefit of a spray gel is that keeps the curls in place without weighing down the hair.
Boucleme Flexible Hold Hair Spray (RRP £24) has already had acclaim, voted “most nourishing hairspray” by Cosmopolitan. The gel is best suited for waves and curls and is meant to help with: volume, hold and definition. It’s 94 % plant powered and ingredients include; erythritol, organic aloe vera and vegetable protein.
How I use it: I tend to use the Flexible Hold Hair Spray on swim and gym days for quick styling. I used it while on beach getaway over the summer. Now back at home, it’s an easy styler to use at the gym after my time in the pool. The flexible hold is ideal for how I like to style my hair. Best of all, it doesn’t create flakes once dry.
