It’s my birthday month! Isn’t it ironic that Sagi’s birthdays are in the darkest days of winter and our element is fire? During my formative years, there was no darkest. I grew up in the Caribbean. Now based in Ole Blighty, (where even summer days can be grey) I’m most optimistic in November. I stay connected to my Caribbean spirit with blue gemstone jewellery. One of my oldest pieces of jewellery is the blue topaz ring mum gave me on my 10th birthday. Now, it’s a bit snug and wonky but when see it I feel loved. Citrine is a variety of quartz that comes in yellow tones. Hence, name the Citrine which is believed to be derived from the French word for “lemon” (citron). The shades range from bright yellow to a smokey amber-ish colour. Citrine was popular in colourful Scottish jewellery from the Victorian era. Today, it’s considered to be a modern birthstone.
