September is here, and it’s the start of autumn and candle season. It’s not that candles are only for autumn and winter, because there are outdoor garden candles; it’s just that there’s something about shorter daylight hours and the glimmer of candlelight. I’ve already started swapping to warmer scents for autumn, but I want to tell you about the London Home Fragrance Show. I attended the show at the Business Design Centre early in the summer. I was curious about the new scents, designs and trends for the season. While I was there, I sat in on some panel discussions and had the opportunity to walk around to see the products and learn firsthand the stories behind some of the collections and collaborations. I’ve compiled highlights from the London Home Fragrance Show and included them in my takeaways. I’ve also got Autumn Winter Home Fragrance Trends for 2026 that align with Pantone 2026, for your seasonal inspiration.
Takeaways from London Home Fragrance Show
From a business perspective, the London Home Fragrance Show is quite informative, especially for small businesses. The panel discussions and presentations covered everything from safety standards to influencer collaborations and trends.
These are the key points I noted:
- Novelty doesn’t stand the test of time. Long-term brand value comes from products that customers return to.
- B2B isn’t your brand-building strategy. Retail buyers can’t build your brand for you—you need to understand your customer and create demand.
- Consumers are willing to invest in XXL candles when the vessel becomes part of their interior design and home décor.
- TikTok is a long game. Success requires consistency, shoppable videos, creator partnerships, and a strong affiliate programme.
- Use TikTok Creator Insights to uncover trending searches, emerging topics, and content opportunities before they peak.
Collections that pair the same signature scent across home fragrance and personal care, scent layering to the next level. E.g. F.Y.G (Find Your Glow) their Back to Basics Collection offers a broad selection of timeless home fragrance and bath & body scents created to invigorate, calm, restore or indulge the senses.
Additionally, their reusable Forever Candle concept: a 500g pack contains 30 cotton wicks and can be poured into a heat-safe vessel, refreshed, restyled and enjoyed again. Designed to offer flexibility, longevity and lower-waste appeal. The Candle Pearls also creates opportunities for repeat purchasing through additional wicks and fragrance oils.
Autumn Winter Home Fragrance Trends 2026
One of the sessions I sat in on at the London Home Fragrance was of course, the AW26 trends. The presentation was given by Sue Marks, Editor at Progressive Gifts & Home.
Sue pointed to the following trends for the season:
- There will be ‘a wealth of cosy’ for the season. There will be cocooning nostalgic fragrance, as well as premium scents inspired by upmarket perfumes and aftershaves, leading the way with a strong link to how fragrances make people feel
- Candles and especially reed diffusers will be getting bigger and more decorative.
- Fragrances inspired by destinations and the seasons, e.g., Millefiori Milano has Christmas Gift Sets like their new book-inspired gift boxes featuring illustrations of three iconic Milan landmarks – the Duomo, Galleria, and Navigli – during the festive season. Each features a different colour palette and products. They have premium packaging and bespoke illustrations. The boxes are reusable and elevate the gifting experience, and include a gift card that mirrors the box illustration.
