Did you know there’s a string of Turkish restaurants along the Grand Parade, in Harringay? In fact, the area is known locally as ‘Little Turkey’. Recently, hubby surprised me and our kids but taking us up to the Grand Parade. He drove. The route took us through inner London. Parking around there can be challenging, so he used the Just Park app to secure a spot. We walked roughly 10 minutes to Antepliler Restaurant, where we dined. As a first time visitor to that part of London, I was amazed but the variety of foods and restaurants serving up Turkish meals, snacks and pastries galore. Antepiler has a chain of food establishments, each with its own speciality. We went to Antepilier Restaurant for a sharing Meze & Mixed Grill and it was delectable!

About Antepliler Green Lanes

‘Antepliler means ‘from Antep’, the area known as Gaziantep. Located in the south eastern Anatolian region of Turkey, Antep is one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities.’ The culinary history of the region was influenced by Arabs, Persians, Alexander the Great, the Romans, Byzantines, Seljuk Turks and the Ottoman.

It is from Antep’s rich melting pot of flavours that Ahmet Ustunsurmeli from Gaziantep drew upon. It started with a bakery where he made baklava in 1993. The brand grew to incorporate the other specialties mentioned earlier.

Antepliler Green Lanes Restaurants

Antepliler’s chain of restaurants each has its own speciality; doner, baklava, kunefe and of course their restaurant. Antepliler Doner serves up kebabs, chicken doners and wraps with lamb and beef. Drinks are a combination of usual high street alongside traditional Turkish ones. While for dessert you can have baklava and Kaymakli Kunefe.

Antepliler Baklava began serving patrons on Green Lances back in 1993. ‘Mr Ahmet Murat Ustunsurmeli has been known as the first authentic baklava producer in London.’ At the balaclava restaurant the dessert selections are wide and includes: Karisik/ Mixed, Burma Kadayif, Su Boregi, Burma, Baklava of course and more. They offer a variety of canned drinks, as well as, Turkish coffee, Turkish tea and a range of other coffees.

.Antepliler Kunefe serves, well, Kunefe! ‘Kanafeh is popularly known to have originated in the Palestinian city of Nablus, and is the most representative and iconic Palestinian dessert. The Turkish variant of the pastry kanafeh is called künefe and ‘Turkish Künefe is a crispy, cheese-filled dessert made with ‘kadayıf’. (half-baked string- shaped dough).’

While at the restaurant, on the menu there are starters such as with richly flavoured kelle paca (lamb soup), lahmacun and dips. Mains include kebabs, fish and selection of pides (Turkish pizza).

What We Ate At Antepliler Restaurant

As always, I usually say, ‘well, what didn’t we eat?!’ We were a party of five with the inclusion of hubby’s cousin. We ordered a mixed grill and chicken doner meal at Antepliler Restaurant. I had Turkish tea, hubby and everyone else had fizzy canned drinks.

When the platter arrived heaped with streaming juicy meats, bearing the charred marks of the cooking process. OH, the aroma. There’s nothing like it. You might think kebabs and doners are all over the high streets and corners of your locale but let me tell you dining at a restaurant is next level. It’s the closest experience to a Turkish holiday; the decor, the music is a vibe. Naturally, the food is the pièce de resistance.

We had Sharing Meze & Grill (for 4-5 people) £99.99. The palter contains: Cacik (a dip made with yogurt and cucumber dish), Humus, Taze fasulye (green beans stewed in a rich tomato sauce), Sigara Borek (Crispy Turkish cheese roll), Mucver (Turkish zucchini fritters), Falafel, Adana (2 skewer), Lamb Shish (1 Skewer), Chicken Shish (2 skewer), Lamb ribs, Chicken Wings (16 pcs), Simit Kebab (1 Skewer). Served with bulgur, bread and salad. In totally, we spent £100+.

Kunefe topped with extra helping of pistaschios

Antepliler Kunefe

After our delicious meal, we opted to take a short walk across the street to Antepliler Kunefe. I had the extra special kunefe because of my hayfever. No need for extra cream to irritate me further. The extra special has extra pistachio rather than a cream topping.

Antepliler Kunefe offers other toppings for kunefe; choose from a range of ice cream flavours or cream. There also so hot and cold drinks.

My Thougths About Antepliler Green Lanes

We enjoyed our meal at Atepilier. The food tasted freshly prepared with good ingredients. However, when compared to Gokyuzu Chingford, Gokyuzu is our first choice. We don’t often get up to north London so when we do, good food is a must but ambience takes it to the next level. Nonetheless, I would recommend Antepliler.

Antepliler Restaurant: 45-46 Grand Parade, Green Lanes, Harringay Ladder, London N4 1AG. The Bus 29 from Finsbury Park will take you there or the Northern Line on the tube to Harringay, either way it’s a short walk to the restaurant.

If you didn’t want a meal you could try the baklava or kunefe establishments for a snack wtih Turkish tea.
